You Can’t Eat Happiness

happiness

You can’t buy it. You can’t wear it. You can’t drive it, or drink it, or sell it, or steal it. You can’t lock it away. You can’t negotiate for it. You can’t win it, you can’t marry it, you can’t inherit it, you can’t cheat it. You can’t smoke it, or inject it, or rent it or borrow it. You can’t campaign for it or beg for it, or talk other people into giving you theirs.

You can live happiness.

You can create it. You can be it. You can give it to others. You can enjoy it. You can share it. You can claim it. You can have as much as you wish. You can enjoy it as much as you want, at any time, under any circumstance. You can work with it, play with it, worship, travel, eat, and sleep with it.

Happiness is yours to live and yours to give, if only you will. It comes from the inside, and the best way to experience it is to get it flowing out. Forget about trying and striving to get happy. Just decide to be happy, and happiness is yours.

New Richness…

New richness

It’s important to have constants in life. It’s also good and useful to have novelty. Today is not here just so it can be an exact repeat of yesterday. Honor each new day by filling it with new experience and substance. Don’t hold yourself back by keeping yourself imprisoned in the same old routine. Outside that routine are great and wonderful possibilities waiting to be explored. Be satisfied with how far you’ve come, and eager to keep on going in new and exciting ways. Life’s beauty knows no limit, so don’t limit yourself to what you’re already familiar with. Seek out new things to do and new ways to do them. Enjoy discovering new challenges, new opportunities and new ways to create new forms of value. Life begins again in every moment. Use the opportunity to add new and fulfilling richness to your world. — Ralph Marston

No Matter What…

Innovations come from people who have problems. Creativity springs from people who are dissatisfied. The biggest breakthroughs come from those people who face the most formidable challenges.

Great accomplishments are not made by those who say “I’ll start on this when I have the time and the money.” Greatness comes from those who find a way to express it, regardless of how limited their resources may be.

What is holding you back? Is it really your lack of resources, as you constantly tell yourself, or is that just a convenient excuse? The easiest way is rarely the only way. When was the last time you heard yourself say “no matter what”?

Stop waiting until things are perfect. The obstacles will always be there. They will never just go away. Find a way through them. Stop waiting for “if only” and start living “no matter what.”

Temptation…

It is tempting to think that you can have something for nothing. It is tempting to think that you can take shortcuts. It is tempting to think that you can avoid the negative consequences of your destructive behavior.

When we’re tempted to do what we know we should not, it is a deception. We see the reward, obsess over it, and mentally build it up bigger than life, completely out of proportion to reality. At the same time we fail to see the significantly bigger downside.

Being positive does not mean ignoring the negative consequences of our actions. Living positively comes from avoiding the negative consequences by refraining from the destructive behavior which surely leads to them.

The next time you are tempted to act against your own good judgment, remember that it is a lie, a deception for which you will ultimately and unavoidably suffer. Be positive by clearly seeing the negative and staying away from it.

Excellence…

Excellence is not a skill. It is an attitude. Excellence comes not from education, money, ability or connections alone. It comes from a commitment to do the very best with whatever you have available.

Excellence is very valuable, and it is open to anyone who commits to follow it. Excellence is always in demand, in any field of endeavor, in any economic climate, in any set of circumstances.

Excellence comes from thoroughness, from attending to the necessary details while staying clearly focused on the purpose. Excellence comes from a sincere desire to make a positive difference.

No matter what the task, if it is followed through with excellence people will take notice. The effort you put into creating excellence will be effort wisely invested. Everyone has the opportunity to produce excellence in their own way, and it is an opportunity that anyone would do well to capitalize on.
