The Jacksons – Time Waits For No One

So I was flipping thru the internets last night and I stumbled across some Jackson jewels that I have never seen. And one realization was bestowed upon me…. them Jackson boys can sing. Now don’t get your wig twisted and balled out. I don’t mean that they can sing Michael style, BUT after seeing the Brothers Jackson perform Time Waits For No One and hold their own I know they can sing some shit.

Now for those of you who are not in the know, Time Waits For No One was a smooth ballad on their Triumph album. Michael of course handled the lead vocals and did his thing, made it his song. But after hearing the Jackson 4 tackle the song without Money in his usual role, I was pleasantly impressed. I think we all know that they can sing, especially Jermaine Jackson Jacksun, however your boy Jackie showed he ain’t no punk. (Didn’t he have the ladies screaming on the clip? Go head Jackie!!!)

Michael Jackson Case Confirmed Vitiligo

michaeljackson

The wrongful death case of Michael Jackson, which promises to be eye opening, has brought the confirmation that the singer had the disease vitiligo. Mike also had a few make-up tattoos on his face. I wonder what all will come to light once the trail has ended.

Alfonzo Jones: The Dude That Jacked Michael Jackson’s Steez

Upon first look this cat seems like a bootleg ripoff of Michael Jackson, and if that is your impression you’re correct. Alfonzo Jones must of been peeping thru the windows of Michael Jackson’s Encino crib and ran off with some style. Not only does this album cover look like a Thriller, but his vocal style is enough to make Katherine Jackson say she never heard this Michael song. Take a listen…..

Alfonzo got Michael’s Fresh copied and pasted. Not sure if his style is a tribute or if he wanted to cash in on Michaelmania. But whatever it is Alfonzo bit it. Bless his heart. Dude even added MJ’s “HOO” to the track.

We Remember…….. Michael Jackson

When Michael passed away, we weren’t born yet. Urban Mogul-Life was still a twinkle in the eye. But we felt pain far, far, away, and we waited for our moment to come when we can pay our respects to  the genius that was The King of Pop, Rock, Soul, R&B, etc. Mr. Michael Joseph Jackson.

It is hard to even begin a post like this because I don’t know where to start. Mike meant many things to many people, good and unfortunately bad. But when you take away all of the hoopla, all you have left is the voice. Arguably the greatest voice of all time. From the first time we heard it on I Want You Back to Butterflies, we knew that this voice was a gift from above. Not many people can sing as a child AND as an adult, Mike could. He was able to reinvent his voice as he got older, and use it as an instrument. When Michael sung, it sounded as smooth as butter melting on hotcakes. Smooth. Not many others could touch it.

Scoop Jackson pointed out that we must not let his legacy be reduced to one moment. He was larger than Thriller. If it was only Thriller, than Mike would be no bigger than Bobby Brown. (Not to take anything from Bob, but Mike had plenty of “Don’t Be Cruel’s”)

During the madness that followed the death of MJ, I ran across a writing by ?uest, where he detailed his top Michael memories. For this post I decided to write my top Michael moments.

My Personal Top Michael Jackson Moments…..

  1. I remember looking through a collection of albums and running across Destiny.  I still can recall the cover art and scared thoughts about what the music must sound like! I was only about 4 at the time and I remember being a little shook.
  2. I remember opening up the cover looking for the vinyl, however it was missing! All I could do was read the song titles and imagine how the songs sounded.
  3. I remember watching the Wiz on TV and connecting you with one of the Jacksons that I saw on the cover of “Destiny”.
  4. I remember playing in kindergarten with a friend who said she was Diana Ross, Corey was Billy Dee Williams, and I was Michael Jackson.
  5. I remember being upset because I wanted to be Billy Dee instead!
  6. I remember seeing the “Blame It on the Boogie” video and once again making a connection to the scary album “Destiny”.
  7. I remember seeing the “ Don’t Stop…” video and wondering where were all of the brothers? And how did they make more than one Michael Jackson?
  8. I remember seeing the afro-less Michael Jackson in the “Rock with You” video all glittered out.
  9. I remember seeing the “Can You Feel It” video and wondering what was going on in this video?
  10. I remember being dragged to a talent show at my mother’s school and seeing a kid do a Michael Jackson routine on the stage. At that moment my life was changed forever.
  11. I remember the very next day my mother bringing home the “Thriller” album. I finally had a Michael Jackson record!
  12. I remember playing that album day in and day out. Learning every little “hee-hee” and “who-who” that the record had to offer.
  13. I remember seeing the “Billie Jean“ wondering how did they make the sidewalk light up as he walked down the street?
  14. I remember watching Motown 25 with my mother and being amazed at the performance of the Jacksons and that pointing dance step that they did all in a line.
  15. I remember the “Billie Jean” performance!
  16. I remember begging my mother for anything Michael Jackson related.
  17. I remember her coming home with the Jackson Five greatest hits album with the group looking like they were a painting.
  18. I remember discovering “I Want You Back”, “ABC”, “Mama’s Pearl”, “The Love You Save”, “I’ll Be There”, “Maybe Tomorrow”, etc….
  19. I remember that still being not enough.
  20. I remember getting the K-Tel greatest hits version with “Ben”, and “Got To Be There” on it.
  21. I remember getting my first pair of penny loafers and trying out the moonwalk for the first time.
  22. I remember practicing the dance steps in front of a mirror perfecting every spin and toe move.
  23. I remember performing my “Billie Jean” routine for my mother and her friends on Friday nights as half-time entertainment from their card games.
  24. I remember going to neighborhood record shop and finally getting the “Destiny” album and listening to the songs from the scary album.

  29. I remember watching the Grammy Awards about a month later and seeing Michael rack up award after award.
  30. I remember getting the bootleg “Beat It” jacket.
  31. I remember not being able to wear it to school the next day.
  32. I remember going to the Palace and hearing “Tell Me I’m Not Dreaming” with Jermaine for the first time.
  33. I remember having to buy Jermaine Jackson’s album because “Tell Me I’m Not Dreaming” wasn’t released as a single.

  43. I remember hearing “State of Shock” in New Orleans for the first time.
  44. I also remember that same summer hearing “Farewell My Summer Love.

I could go on forever and ever. But I decided to stop here. This post is for the REAL Michael Jackson fans. Those of us who have memories before the world called him Wacko Jacko. This is post is for us.

But let’s stop here. Thank you Michael. We miss ya!

Prince Michael Jackson Has Something To Say

The Jackson family drama is in full mode right about now. We have heard from the brothers, Paris, and saw Janet get her Auntie on. But Prince Michael Jackson Jr has been pretty quiet, that is until now. Prince has taken to Twitter to tell his side of the story.

I would first like to start off this tweet by thanking the fans that have always stood by me and my family, my dad really appreciated your support and I still treasure it to this day. As I am sure everyone is well aware of the events that have been going on. I have been holding off on backing up my sister and her tweets avidly because I was waiting for the time to reveal my side. As long as I can remember my dad had repeatedly warned me of certain people and their ways. Although I am happy my grandma was returned, after speaking with her I realized how misguided and how badly she was lied to. I’m really angry and hurt. The following image is of a group chat I had started to several family members. This group text message I had started was replied to but they didn’t know that I could see the responses. For this whole time, they denied us contact to our grandmother. “If you continue with your lies I will continue with the truth”

Somebody please settle this nonsense. It seems to be getting crazier by the minute.

What Is Going On W/The Jacksons?!?!

It seems like the last few weeks something is going on with our beloved family The Jacksons. A few weeks Janet Jackson spoke out on her disapproval of Paris Jackson decision to act at such a “young”age. (Even though she was Penny). Then you hear whispers that The Jackson boys are upset with the way Michael Jackson’s legacy and monies are being handled. Next thing we hear Katherine Jackson is missing….. but wait Jermaine assures us that she is safe and sound with a family member resting. Now police were called to the Jackson  compound over altercations. MamasaymamasamamockkuWHAT!?!? Y’all fighting over this money now??! And don’t trip…. I would be too!

Mike’s will is estimated to be $1 billion. With Katherine up in age, it seems like the family is trying to wrestle control away from the controlling members of the estate before it is too late. And I don’t blame them, especially if they feel something suspect is going on. I just hope whatever the deal is gets handled as much as possible behind closed doors, and not in front of the media. Michael was such a private person he deserves that.

The Michael Jackson Trial Has Begun, And……

3

It isn’t looking pretty. We already know that Michael was a very private individual, but if day one is any indicator of what is to come… all of Mike business will be thrown out there for us. The prosecution started the trial off with a bang by showing Michael dead in the hospital as well as playing a phone call of him talking while under the influence.

To what depths will these people sink?

Songs of Summer Day 3: Michael Jackson – Happy

(See the good thing about the “Songs of the Summer” series is that not all the songs selected came out in the summer. I am not sure when of these songs actually dropped, I just know they crossed my radar one summer day, making them forever in my mind a summer song.)

While the other kids were in love with Thriller I was discovering the music of yesteryear. One of my first albums post Thriller-mania was a best of compilation by K-tel records. Remember them? Of course ya do. Well the album had plenty of songs that I never heard from Mike’s years at Motown, Happy was one of those tracks.

You know how certain songs can take you back to the time when you first heard them? Well Happy is one of those songs for me. It takes me back to the summer between 5th and 6th grade. For some reason in between my rap songs, Happy was blasting from my stereo. Maybe it helped smooth me out. Looking back now, I realize that it served as the transition song of my life as I went from a lad to middle school age. The mood of the song was the perfect backdrop for me leaving elementary and going  to middle school. And from that summer on when I hear this song, I think of old friends from the old school that Facebook can’t even find.

RIP Michael Jackson 1958-2009

Time sure does fly doesn’t it? It seemed like just last month when I received a phone call about Michael being dead. I didn’t want to believe it, but something inside told me that it was the only conclusion. In order to achieve the greatness that sets him apart from others Mike Jack had to in fact die. Sad sh&t from a man who went through a lot, good and bad. But no matter what you may think about him, Michael Joseph Jackson is one of the greatest who ever did it!!!

Barry Gibb x Michael Jackson Studio Footage

Barry Gibb unearthed some footage of him and Michael Jackson in the studio working on a track called All In Your Name. It is funny how this snippet of video sounds better than all of the trash Sony released a few months ago in the Michael project.

Michael Jackson and I were the dearest of friends, thats simply what it was. We gravitated towards the same kind of music and we loved collaborating and he was the easiest person to write with. The more we got to know each other the more those ideas entwined and it all came to this song ” All in Your Name”.
“All in Your Name” is infact the message that Michael wanted to send out to all of his fans all over the World that he did it all for them and for the pure love of music. I hope and pray that we all get to hear it in its entirety. This experience i will treasure forever.

Recorded & Filmed at Middle Ear Studios in December 2002. All footage was shot by Ashley Gibb on a high 8 camera. There is over 2 hours of footage.

We wonder what else is on this video?
