Got $75 million handy?
Thats what the King Of The South’s price tag is now, as his Atlantic Records contract ends. And he is now the number-one free agent in rap — and despite the steep price tag he’s putting out … some deep pockets are already lining up. Sources close to T.I. tell TMZ … T.I.’s 10-year contract with Atlantic ran up only a month ago … but he’s already put together his own idea of a $75 million deal: – 3 albums – 10-20 percent of publishing, touring, merchandise, film and TV rights – Corporate endorsement deals – Exclusive signing of all Grand Hustle artists (TMZ) Continue reading
The King is back!!!
Back on the Billboard 200 chart this week, T.I.’s “Trouble Man: Heavy is the Head” album arrives at No. 2, giving the hip-hop star his eighth top 10 effort. The new set launches with 179,000 — an improvement over the 160,000 that welcomed his last effort, 2010′s “No Mercy.” The latter title debuted at No. 4 upon its December release that year.
Personal Fav of mine is “Sorry” feat 3 stacks and “Addresses” where he gets at ATL rapper “Alley Boy” putting him in his place without mentioning his name.

This Week the West Coast’s new golden child Kendrick Lamar’s debut album moved down eight spots to No. 40 with 24,000 sold last week. Now on the charts for 2 months, Lamar’s new LP sits at 506,000 records sold.
Game aka Jayceon Taylor, Debuted at #5 last week with his “Jesus Piece” offering with 87,000 units sold. Ending his streak of debuting at #1 with his 4 previous releases. Continue reading
Moguls & She-Moguls…this is what technology is good for! I like this product so much…I made Santa give it to me for being so good all year long. After all…Mogul-ing is hard work. You see, my taste is a little on the nostalgic side. Nostalgic to the tune of more vinyl records than I can count. Some of the pieces I enjoy the most, I’ve purchased CDs for,but honestly, it’s just not the same. I enjoy the light crackle and hiss of a needle riding a groove. The Ion Profile Pro gave me a modern upgrade for just listening, and allows me to make an MP3 file that imports easily into my iTunes so that I can take the sounds I enjoy with me. It also takes some wear and tear off of my aging collection, and gives me the opportunity to enjoy these treasures more often than I already do. Features include:

I thought long and hard about this first installment of G.O.A.T.’s. I decided to go with a topic I know well…music. Now, I don’t play an instrument, or have formal music training…..but I can play a jukebox like nobody’s business! What I can tell you is that Marvin Gaye’s 1978 release, “Here, My Dear”…..is one of the Greatest Of All Time.
The album began as a way to pay off a divorce settlement to Gaye’s estranged wife, Anna Gordy. Marvin’s plan to pimp his talent in exchange for freedom, quickly gave way to his deeply emotional self. The result was an album that chronicled his relationship from courtship to absolution, and each dramatic scene plays out in another brilliant melody. The album did very poorly on the commercial market, according to traditional Gaye standards, but has spoken to the hearts and ears of true listeners from day one. You might think an album of this nature would be filled with bitterness; to the contrary. The album is filled with a sincerity and openness that could only be explained by a heart broken by true love. Marvin explores his pleasure, his pain, ecstacy, guilt, ultimate joy….and finally his resolve.
The lyrical quality ranges well accross the spectrum; from purely poetic, to plain talk. The vocal presentation is pure Marvin…..knee deep in his feelings. You will hear so many different critique’s of this album, that the only way to know, is to hear it for yourself. Grab yourself a glass of something smooth, open a few windows, and press play.
An absolute must for any grown folks collection. Til next time.

Last Sunday’s (March 4) drive-by shooting that left Young Buck’s SUV riddled with 11 bullets and his girlfriend wounded in the arm in Nashville is still under investigation.
“The investigation is still ongoing,” a rep for the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department’s Office of Public Affairs confirmed with XXLMag.com.
The Tennessean originally reported that in the early morning of Sunday, March 4, Buck and his girlfriend, Kenyetta Rainey, 32, were involved in a heated argument outside of South Nashville’s, La Bamba nightclub. They were then the targets of a drive-by shooting, as shots were fired from a white Chevy Tahoe at Buck’s Cadillac Escalade at approximately 3 a.m. on the I-24 near the Shelby Avenue exit. One of the 11 bullets grazed Rainey on the shoulder. Buck then drove her to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she was treated and released. Buck, real name David Brown, nor a second man riding in the Escalade were injured in the shooting.
After a couple of days of silence, Buck took to his Twitter to address the situation. “We all go through things in life,” the former G-Unit star tweeted. “The things I’m experiencing are Truly making me a Better and Stronger man. #GodisGood.”
This serves as another bump in the road for the troubled MC, who filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in January 2011, in hopes of reorganizing his finances and holding off his debts. However, a trustee assigned to the case said that the reorganization was not viable and deemed later in the year that Buck was facing Chapter 7, which includes the liquidation of his assets.

Common has announced that his upcoming album, The Dreamer, The Believer, will not be released through G.O.O.D. Music. In an interview conducted with Hard Knock TV, the Chicago MC made clear that his lengthy stretch with Kanye West’s imprint, which commenced with the release of Be in 2005, has come to an end.
“I’m still G.O.O.D. Music-affiliated, for sure… I’m still part of the G.O.O.D. Music family, [but] it’s not coming out through GO.O.D Music, the label,” Common reassured fans, before going on to discuss how No I.D. is to take on the primary production duties on his ninth album, just as he did in the early stages of his career.
Common went on to confirm that rumours of an upcoming joint album with Nas will come. Although he didn’t attach a name to it, he explicitly declared, “At some point we will do that” and said Nas.com was an early working title for it, when it was set to be a joint mixtape between the two veteran MCs.
Common is due to release The Dreamer, The Believer on November 22nd through Geffen/Think Common Inc.

Fresh off of going platinum AGAIN with Tha Carter IV, Lil Wayne is already thinking about the next projects. In addition to recording two more Carter albums and a sequel to Rebirth. Weezy is set to hit the studio with Juelz Santana and Young Money to lay down full-lengths.
“The next project he’s working on is I Can’t Feel My Face with [Juelz Santana],” Mack Maine told XXLMag.com. “Elz is talented man. He’s a young legend. [Wayne’s] back working in the studio. He has that and the Young Money album.”
Though they intended to release I Can’t Feel My Face some years back, the two will record entirely new material for the project. Additionally, Mack said that Young Money will begin work on the follow-up to 2009’s We Are Young Money once everyone’s schedule clears up.
“We haven’t actually recorded one verse for that album,” he continued. “When we were on tour, we said we’re gonna wait until we get back to Miami to get everybody out there. We have one more show in Hawaii then we’ll start recording. It wont take long. Too much creativity for it to take a long time.”

The Young Money boss almost did it again, refering back to 2008 when The Carter III sold a millli in it’s first week on the shelf. But Still not bad in a time where records are not selling like they used to.
According to final numbers from Nielsen SoundScan, the Young Money rapper’s ninth album will arrive at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, selling a whopping 964,000 copies in its opening week. While impressive, it wasn’t quite enough to top its predecessor Tha Carter III, which sold 1,005,545 when it debuted in June 2008.
That gives Weezy the second-highest first week sales of the year, displacing Jay-Z and Kanye West’s Watch the Throne, but still behind Lady Gaga’s Born This Way (1.1 million).
Tha Carter IV also broke the U.S. iTunes Store’s single-week album sales record by registering around 345,000 downloads, reports Billboard.
A thrilled Weezy thanked his fans for their support. “Wow!!!!!!!!!! I have the best fans in the universe! I thank u all. Hard work and dedication pays well. Young Mula baby!(weezy voice),” he tweeted.
Nicki Minaj joined the celebration, adding, “A million here, A million there…Congrats Weezy! YMCMB.”

Nas breaks down One Love and the time period that created Illmatic, one of the classics in hip hop music.

Now that Watch The Throne has come and gone, what are you looking forward to? Lil Wayne? Drake? J. Cole? How bout Mary J? Me, I need that Phonte, Drake, Mary J. Blige and J. Cole and I should be straight. If those deliver then I am cool.
