So I was flipping thru the internets last night and I stumbled across some Jackson jewels that I have never seen. And one realization was bestowed upon me…. them Jackson boys can sing. Now don’t get your wig twisted and balled out. I don’t mean that they can sing Michael style, BUT after seeing the Brothers Jackson perform Time Waits For No One and hold their own I know they can sing some shit.
Now for those of you who are not in the know, Time Waits For No One was a smooth ballad on their Triumph album. Michael of course handled the lead vocals and did his thing, made it his song. But after hearing the Jackson 4 tackle the song without Money in his usual role, I was pleasantly impressed. I think we all know that they can sing, especially Jermaine Jackson Jacksun, however your boy Jackie showed he ain’t no punk. (Didn’t he have the ladies screaming on the clip? Go head Jackie!!!)
*Bonus clip of the brothers recording Jump For Joy.
The wrongful death case of Michael Jackson, which promises to be eye opening, has brought the confirmation that the singer had the disease vitiligo. Mike also had a few make-up tattoos on his face. I wonder what all will come to light once the trail has ended.
Hot 97 radio veteran Mister Cee came through on a weekend promise made by the station today (May 6) by coming forward to speak on his bust last week on a prostitution charge and revealing his sexuality.
Music is an integral part of our society. Nearly everyone is enthusiastic about a particular genre, singer, band, or composer. As an individual you will have your picks, but do you really know how to listen to music? Are you able to appreciate and hear the many wonderful offerings that the world has to offer? When the symphony comes to town, do you buy tickets? When was the last time you saw a musical, or an opera for that matter? Bottom line is…Moguls should be cultured, open minded, and versatile in order to take advantage of all the opportunities life has to offer. The following rule will help you to intellectualize your musical experience a bit, but also add some enjoyment to old favorites you’ve listened to a million times. The rule is simply:
Listen to every voice as if it were an instrument, and listen to every instrument as if it were a voice.
You can enhance this by closing your eyes, purchasing a good set of headphones, and sometimes by just turning up the volume. Now, this may not enhance your journey through 50 Cent’s Greatest Hits…but I guarantee it will shed a new perspective on those old Motown hits that feature full symphony orchestras in the back ground, listening to a song in another language, or trying to digest those old jazz standards that always seemed to put you to sleep. Give it a shot and let me know how it goes. In the meantime…continue Your Mogul Education.
Rapper Rick Ross was out celebrating his 37th birthday at a Fort Lauderdale, Fla., diner early Monday morning when he became the alleged target of a drive-by shooting.
Police say Ross and his girlfriend were leaving the 24-hour diner The Floridian at around 5 a.m., after eating a late meal, when someone unloaded close to two dozen bullets into Ross’ gray Rolls Royce.
Ross reportedly tried to flee the shooting, but ended up crashing his car into an apartment near 15th Avenue and Las Olas Boulevard. Continue reading →
Is there a G-Unit and Maybach Music Group reunion going down in the near future? It was just a few years ago when Rick Ross and 50 Cent were at each other’s necks and even though they don’t waste time dissing each other (minus the BET Hip Hop Awards), everyone knows neither have plans of sitting down and doing lunch in the near future. Too much blood spilled over for them to just shake hands now. But what about their protégés? Looks like a few key players got spotted hanging out recently. Continue reading →

And he is now the number-one free agent in rap — and despite the steep price tag he’s putting out … some deep pockets are already lining up. ATL rapper Shawty Lo is pleading his case with anyone who will listen, specifically the Oxygen network, to give his currently shelved “All My Babies’ Mamas” television special another chance.
According to Shawty Lo, people have made their assumptions simply off an extensive trailer and not seen what the show really has to offer.
“Yeah I really understand. They have the right to think that, but at least give the show a chance, to see what’s goin’ on,” Shawty said in an interview in response to the show’s backlash. “They makin’ their assumptions off a 13-minute trailer and this like the biggest news around the world right now and it’s unbelievable. … The show wasn’t about, we finna be fightin’. My show is not about no negative; it’s a positive. But if they wanna see the show, sign a petition.” (Hot 107.9) Continue reading →

That’s exciting, that’s really exciting that Tim, you know, wanted to come and get involved with SMS. Because now, he has ownership in the company. Kanye West has had a busy few months to end 2012. First he sports his “kilt” that a few people took notice to. Then he tells us that he dropped one in the oven of Kim Kardashian. So now he gives us a little freestyle.
