Dubai Has Everything I See

The latest architectural wonder to call Dubai its home is none other than a half-submerged hotel, complete with underwater rooms offering views of life below the surface of the sea. Christened the ‘Water Discus Hotel’ , this spaceship-shaped building is set to be the first of several planned across the region. Designed by Deep Ocean Technology (DOT), this hotel will surely please the so called “water baby’s” who love exploring the depths of the deep blue sea.

The hotel will comprise of two main discs, one above water and one below. These two discs will be connected by three ‘legs’ which contain lifts and stairways to plunge guests from the sunshine above down beneath the surface of the sea. The underwater section is located up to 10 meters deep and comprises of 21 rooms adjacent to the submerged dive centre and a bar. Offering a view like no other, the designers will make use of special lighting to illuminate the flora and fauna outside. What is more, guests will also be able to zoom in and take a closer look at even the tiniest creatures using macro photography. What is more, the hotel will be built to the highest safety standards. The top disc is built high enough to withstand a tsunami and any flooding, while the underwater disc automatically surfaces at once in the event of any danger. While this is not the first hotel in the world to offer underwater rooms, it will still break quite a few records when it is ready.

Aaron Rodgers x Ryan Braun To Open Restarant

The two reigning MVPs of Wisconsin, Aaron Rodgers and Ryan Braun plan on opening a restaurant this summer. The spot called 8-Twelve will serve American classics prepared over a wood-fire grill. Sounds like a great spot to catch a game or two.

Michael Jordan Opens Steak House

The GOAT still has steaks on his mind, and Scottie Pippen ain’t far behind. Michael Jordan recently opened another of his steak houses at the InterContinental Hotel in Chicago. And from the looks of it, MJ ain’t sweating the LeBron is better comments from Scottie P. It’s all good when you have a plate of steak in front of you.

Lenny Kravitz Takes His Cool To Designing Hotels

Rock legend Lenny Kravitz has jumped into the hotel designing business.

The singer-songwriter is said to be working on rooms for the SLS Hotel at South Beach, set to open next year in Miami, Florida as a sister property to the luxury SLS Hotel at Beverly Hills, California.

Kravitz, who runs a design studio called Kravitz Design Inc., has been given responsibility for putting together the decor of a bungalow and penthouse suite.

It follows his company’s previous work with the Delano Hotel in Miami, right across the street from where the SLS Hotel will be, where Kravitz was responsible for The Florida Room bar and lunge.

The rest of the SLS Hotel, however, will be designed by Philippe Starck, a design icon who has lent his skills to several famous boutique properties.

With a beachfront location, it will feature a Katsuya sushi restaurant, another restaurant by José Andrés called The Bazaar, a Hyde Lounge nightclub which extends onto the sand and a hairdressing salon.
