The Fine Art of Living…UML Style

Scenic007Okay UML fam…let’s get down to the nitty-gritty. We didn’t launch this blog solely to focus on pop culture, music, and the shiny things in life. After all, any true Mogul has figured out, or will, that in order to master this lifetime, it will require a balanced being, strong in Mind, Body, and Spirit. Here at UML, this is more than cliche. If  you take a moment to reference our title bar, you’ll quickly notice that UML seeks to establish itself as a Lifestyle Brand. For those of you who may need a little more insight as to what that means, here are a few tips on the Fine Art of Living:UML Style

  1. Have a routine to your life that makes time and space for the important things; big, or small.
  2. Be driven, but be patient.
  3. Explore new things, and revisit old things that hold true value.
  4. Be gentle with yourself, stress will come from everywhere, do you really need to serve as an amplifier for it.
  5. Know what you believe, and make up your own mind about it. Your opinion is as valid as anybody else’s.
  6. Be open to LOVE, in all its forms, and from wherever and whomever it comes. It can only make you better.
  7. Take nothing for granted and be the first to show true appreciation for all positive things that come your way.
  8. Do everything you can about what you can do something about. Don’t worry about the rest.
  9. Have positive impact on the people and things you encounter everyday. It will allow you to see the power you have to do good things.
  10. Be in tune to your true self, and know what you do not know, so that you may continue to learn, and grow.

As you move throughout your day, take minute to make UML a part of it. This isn’t just a blog….it’s a lifestyle.

Black Panther Geronimo Pratt Dies…

Elmer "Geronimo" Pratt spent 27 years in prison for a murder he says he didn't commit. His conviction was later overturned.

(CNN) — Former Black Panther Elmer “Geronimo” Pratt, who was wrongly imprisoned for 27 years on a murder conviction, died Thursday in Tanzania, his former lawyer said.

He was 63.

Stuart Hanlon, a San Francisco-based lawyer who helped overturn Pratt’s murder conviction, said he did not know the exact cause of death.

Pratt died in a small village in Tanzania where he lived with his wife and child, Hanlon said.

Hanlon called Pratt a “true American,” saying that he was an Army veteran who served two tours in Vietnam before joining the Black Panther Party.

“He could’ve been a great leader. He was very charismatic,” Hanlon said. “His legacy is that he never gave up. He never got despondent or angry.”

Pratt’s conviction became a rallying cry for rights groups that said he had been framed for his strident activism during the turbulent civil rights era. Continue reading

Osama Bin Ladens Son, “Omar” Plans To Sue The U.S.

UH OH WE GOT ANOTHER PROBLEM,

Yeah Lil Osama is pissed off bout what we did to his pops!!

Osama Bin Laden’s son Omar has condemned the killing of his father and threatened to take legal action against the US, a media report said Wednesday.

Omar, who is Osama’s fourth eldest son, claimed he and the al Qaeda chief’s other children are reserving the right to take legal action in the US to “determine the true fate of our vanished father”, according to a statement apparently made by Omar bin Laden posted on an Islamist website.

He also branded his father’s burial at sea as a “humiliation” for his family, Daily Mail reported citing the SITE Intelligence Group, an online monitoring service. Continue reading

Jewelz Of The Day…

“The belief that God will do everything for man is as untenable as the belief that man can do everything for himself. It too, is based on a lack of faith. We must learn that to expect God to do everything while we do nothing is not faith but superstition.”

Mogul Perspective…Time To Vote

Tomorrow is November 2nd and of course that means that America’s Democratic Process will take center stage…for some.  For the last month, my senses have been bombarded with propaganda trying to sway my thinking, and yours, in a particular direction. Not sure about you Moguls, but this occasion always brings on a plethora of emotions. I’m usually a little insulted by the strategies all politicians use to cloud the information they share when attempting to share their position on issues of interest to the voters. I’m usually perplexed as I try to figure out how two terribly polarized groups of millionaires surrounded by thousands of lobbyists catering to their “sense of capitalism” and playing follow the leader could ever arrive at a decision that even remotely makes sense, or meets the needs of the average American. I am usually agitated when I get into the voting booth and find that no matter how well-informed I am on the candidates, I still feel like I’m picking the lesser of two assholes (sorry about that)…evils. I’m appalled as of late because I’m trying to remember when our country’s political process became so “ethnically charged”. I mean…it couldn’t have been when those Native Americans borrowed those “pocky” blankets from their new guests to keep warm; or when those hard workin’ Africans came over for their little vacation in the Americas; or when the Irish or the German fellas decided they wanted to melt into the big pot. And for the life of me, I cant figure out how this intelligent and informed population of Jewish Catholic Mormon Krishna Lutheran Buddhist Agnostics can’t tell the difference between Islam and the accomplished terrorist fella who came through customs and signed up for flying lessons in Florida. After all, didn’t we fight a war with that anger already…or did it time out when we found out they’d be shooting back? Wait…is this even politics?

I digress.

But alas, I must vote. I won’t go too deep into my personal politics, but how can I begin to complain or criticize if I don’t first exhaust all resources afforded me through the American Democratic Process? It’s my responsibility. It’s my right. And someday…when the government is for the people, and by the people…it will “matter”.

Enjoy,

911

I intentionally did not post anything having to do with 9-11 because of the fact that it almost seems like a holiday nowadays. But i just wanted to post this for the simple fact that America is the most powerful country in the world, and the events on 9-11 did not change that. Now I could go on and talk about the freedoms that people did not have in this country for a long time, but I would have to create a whole different site to explain how I felt about that…… R.I.P to the ones we lost on September 11th 2001

Mogul Perspective…The Search For God

Any reasonable Man or woman will eventually contemplate the importance the concept of God will have in their own life.  After all, whether you call yourself a believer or not, it is virtually impossible to coexist on this planet without encountering the concept.  If you should so decide that a relationship with God is something you desire, you would do yourself great honor by deciding what you believe, instead of whom to follow.  This alone will set you upon a path to truth, for it will only lead you to something that you can understand.  Have no fear if others challenge your thoughts, beliefs, or choices.  If you don’t have the strength to believe in your own ideas, it is not likely that you will have the strength to embrace, or apply the concept of faith.  Any man or woman who sets out with genuine intent, and wants to have a whole relationship with God, will find themselves divinely led.  The path you walk will embrace you mind, body, and soul…because it has to.

NFL rookie Glen Coffee retires after one season.

According to reports San Francisco 49ers running back Glen Coffee is retiring after one NFL season. The 23 year old rushed for 226 yards on 83 carries last season with one touchdown.

admitting that is was a very tough decision, he says his mind is made up, in a statement he released to the press:

“It was a struggle for a long time. Actually when I look back I feel I never should have entered the draft in the first place. Football was no longer my dream. I found Christ in college. It changed my views on everything. But I still was a football player because it was expected of me, it was something I did all my life. I was basically wasting the (49ers’) time.”

Coach Singletary had this say:

“The one thing I learned a long time ago is that if someone wants to leave and you try to bring them back, talk them out of it, chances are you are going to have to try and talk them out of it again,” Singletary told the media when asked if he tried to talk Coffee out of his decision. “That would be disrespectful to the guys out here. We have guys out here that really want to be here and I’m looking high and low to try and find those 53 that really love being here. And that’s what the game is all about.”

The Spiritual Cipher…Statements of Belief

Good Morning Moguls. I ran into a few obstacles this Sunday that prevented me from getting my post out on schedule, but I think this is too important to let slide.

The need to believe in something is fundamental to human nature. We spend a great deal of our lives evaluating information and experiences so that we can feel like we know what’s real. We test, and search, and push boundaries so that we can feel secure when we say “I Believe…” or “I Know…”. We search, for the unshakable feeling of…..faith.

Stevie Wonder: New Project

One of the greatest entertainers the world has ever known stated during a sit in on “The Steve Harvey Morning Show” this morning that he was currently working on a new project. The project,  titled “Gospel Inspired By Lula”, is inspired by his mother. Still in the developmental stage, Stevie said that his mother, Lula, had always urged him to do a project to spread the word of God. Stevie’s work has always been very spiritual, but he states that this one will be very deliberate and hopes to include songs in Arabic and an African language. The songs will be in collaboration with other artists and make an effort to speak to the belief that the Gospel is not about the religion, but the relationship with God…..whomever you perceive him to be.

They can set my copy to the side right now! The “Boy Wonder” never disappoints.
