Burger So Good You Will Eat The Wrapper

I don’t care how much you want me to reduce waste, you will never catch me eating the paper my food comes in! Bob’s fast food spot decided to try out edible wrappers for their burgers in an attempt to be more environmentally conscious.

Would you eat the paper your Big Mac came in Moguls?

The Truck Food Cookbook

I love a good taco truck. And from the looks of this book, I am only scratching the surface. I need to find a good wing truck, burger truck, waffle truck etc. In fact I will keep looking for good trucks until my stomach tells me otherwise.

Buying food from a random truck on the street should probably rank lower than eating at Taco Bell on the scale of food quality, but there are so many people running meals on wheels that would rake in Michelin stars like Mario that we don’t even care. This cookbook is the best of the best in the world of food trucks and includes things like (get a napkin, you’re going to start salivating): Tamarind-glazed fried chicken drummettes, the grilled cheese cheeseburger, Kalbi beef sliders, Porchetta, Sweet potato cupcakes, soft-serve ice cream and an entire chapter dedicated to tacos. With these recipes, you’ll never have to check Twitter, Facebook or Foursquare for the location of your favorite guilty pleasure again.

Burger King Has That Swine Ice Cream…

I mean who sits back and thinks of these things? Better yet, who actually tries them out to see if it is any good? But if your stomach is brave enough to try this delight, head over to your local Burger King and give it a taste. Let us know how it settles.

Would You Get A Drink At KFC???

I have heard about chicken and waffles. But how about chicken and vodka? Well if you live in Japan, you can order just that. An upscale KFC in Japan has opened a full scale bar, right inside the restaurant. The bar, in Tokyo,  is located at the top of their 3 story spot called KFC Route 25. Hey at least if you get drunk, you won’t have far to travel to get some grease to soak it all up for you.

Popeyes Now Has Dip’n Chick’n!!!

In the what else will they think about department. Popeyes has decided to turn their chicken into a dipping tool, for the dipper in you. Dip’n Chick’n will be available for a limited time to those of you who want chicken on the next level. However, I have spent summers in  New Orleans, and I never ran across dip’n chick’n! What’s next Moguls?

Damn, These Some Good Pies…….

Eyes on the Pies

(An interview with Johnathan Dye of Mr. Dye’s Pies)

By Nigeria R.

”Looking for those pies…pecan sweet potato is heavenly…could cause a serious addiction…you have to promise not to tell my mother that I have found a sweet potato pie better than hers’ and it was baked by a man…” – Jorena Lewandowski

Grandmas all over the world may as well throw in the towel. There’s a new baker in town and yes… he’s a man. Johnathan Dye, a cum laude graduate of UW-Parkside has been in the kitchen since the young age of 4, so cooking and baking are as natural as breathing to him.  When I sat down with the chef and asked him what made his pies so special, he simply said, “The lovin’ is the oven.”

“I love that every time I’m in the kitchen, it’s a chance to make someone’s day better”, says the 35-year-old pie pusher.

After I heard one of his customers rave about his sweet potato pies, I had to find out for myself.  Sweet Jesus, it was love at first bite! Sweet enough to be a pie, but not so sweet that you go into a sugar attack. With Mr. Dye’s Pies, you can actually taste the sweet potatoes. It’s even really good to know that each pie also comes in a sugar-free version for those who are health conscious.

My personal favorite is the Pecan Delight, a sweet potato pie topped with sweet, crunchy pecans. I prefer mine with a ton of whipped cream on top. And then there’s his Purple Monster Pie, a sweet potato pie like no other.  Only the hungriest, toughest and bravest pie eaters can handle this beast. This baby is an all-natural, one of kind crowd pleaser.

So, if you’re anywhere near the Milwaukee area, Mr. Dye’s Pies are a must try.  One bite and you will be screaming his slogan, “Official as a Referee Whistle.” Prices range from $20 – $34. Call 414-759-4992 to order your sweet potato pies today for a weekend pickup. Oh, and don’t forget to stop by the grocery store for your whipped cream. You won’t want to be without it.
