And In Today’s Jay-Z News…….

Jay-Z is one of Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World.

Jay-Z embodies so much of what makes New York New York. A kid from a tough neighborhood who grows up in public housing, overcomes lots of bad influences on the street, never lets go of his dream, makes it to the top — and then keeps going, pursuing new outlets for his creativity and ambition. When no one would sign him to a record contract, he created his own label and built a music empire — before going on to design clothing lines, open sports bars and, most recently, represent professional athletes. He’s an artist-entrepreneur who stands at the center of culture and commerce in 21st century America, and his influence stretches across races, religions and regions. He’s never forgotten his roots — “Empire State of Mind” was a love song to our city — and as a co-owner of the NBA Nets, he helped bring a major league sports team back to Brooklyn, not far from his old neighborhood. In nearly everything he’s tried, he’s found success. (He even put a ring on Beyoncé.) And in doing so, he’s proved that the American Dream is alive and well.

Jay-Z also announced what some of us knew was coming for a while, that he relinquished his ownership in the Brooklyn Nets. In a letter released on his Life & Times site he thanks the Nets for his opportunity.

Being a member of the Nets organization surpassed some of my greatest ambitions. It was never about an investment; it was about the NETS and Brooklyn. My job as an owner is over but as a fan it has just begun. I’m a Brooklyn Net forever. It’s been an honor to work with Mikhail Prokhorov, Dmitry Razumov, Christophe Charlier, ONEXIM Sports and Entertainment, Brett Yormark and all the wonderful people involved in making the Nets first class. My sincerest thanks goes to Bruce Ratner, who first introduced the idea of moving the Nets to Brooklyn. A thank you and deepest appreciation goes to the fans. You are the lifeblood of any team.

The Nets have made their mark on the NBA and as they enter a new era, Roc Nation does as well; as we embark on Roc Nation Sports. Our newest endeavor is committed to building the brands of professionalathletes as we have done for some of today’s top music artists. For Roc Nation Sports to function at its full potential, NBA rules stipulate that I relinquish my ownership in the Brooklyn Nets. It was a tough decision but as I stated earlier, it’s not about ownership. Congratulations to The Nets on a great season and making the playoffs! I will always be a Brooklyn Net.

Does he still own the building? Can we trade in our receipts?

Jay-Z Will Sell His Ownership of The Brooklyn Nets

jay-z-nets-logo

This should not surprise you but Jay-Z will sell his share of the Brooklyn Nets. The move is needed in order for him to operate as a sports agent per NBA rules.

Jay-Z will have to divest his share of the Nets to become certified as an NBA agent. (USA Today Sports)Jay-Z – whose real name is Shawn Carter – owns less than 1 percent of the Nets, but has been a central public figure in the franchise’s marketing and move from New Jersey to Brooklyn.

Selling his share of the Nets is a necessary prelude for Jay-Z to obtain his National Basketball Players Association certification as an agent.

NBA rules mandate that no one individual affiliated with a player representation company can have an ownership stake with an NBA team.

Jay-Z’s Roc Nation company has partnered with Creative Artists Agency (CAA) to launch a sports representation business that recently secured New York Yankees star Robinson Cano.

The process is expected to be completed in time for Roc Nation to compete for players entering the June NBA draft, but there’s no guarantee of the timing, sources said. Those within Roc Nation and the CAA alliance aren’t “chasing a clock on this,” one source said. “This isn’t about one draft, but taking the long view of the business.”

Rival agents are anxious over the possibilities of Jay-Z on the recruiting trail, believing the lure of his iconic business and cultural standing will have a major impact on attracting top prospects and current league stars.

Marvel x Brooklyn Nets – BrooklyKnight

They are really going full speed ahead with the promotion of the Brooklyn Nets. Marvel Comics and The Brooklyn Nets introduce The BrooklyKnight.

According to both Marvel Entertainment and the Brooklyn Nets, the new mascot is the “protector of Brooklyn’s hometown team, defender of New York’s largest and most courageous borough, and ruler of Barclays Center.” The superhero made his debut at the Nets’ first game in their new arena and featured in BrooklyKnight #1, a 32-page comic book — written by Jason Aaron and illustrated by Mike Deodato — that was handed to all of the game’s attendees. Fans present at the November 11 home tilt against the Orlando Magic — sans Dwight “Superman” Howard — can also look forward to a limited edition BrooklyKnight trading card courtesy of Marvel Custom Solutions and the Brooklyn Nets.

Let’s hope the product matches the hype.

Do You Want Some Popcorn?????

Well basketball season is right around the corner and the pranks are coming in. Looks like the Brooklyn Nets got in on the jokey jokes early when Deron Williams and Reggie Evans decided to fill MarShon Brooks car with popcorn. Those millionaires sure know how to have fun, don’t they?

Kobe Bryant Named Player of the Century….. What DO You Think???

Dime magazine has called Kobe Bryant the player of the century. Now the century is still young and I am sure that we will see many more “players of the century” between now and 2099, but as of now can you think of a better player?

Kobe Bryant Has His Jordan Impression Down Pat

I remember back in the day when people would compare Kobe Bryant to Michael Jordan I cried blasphemy. Now after a few more rings and few more miles on the legs, I can see the comparison a little more clearly. And I will admit that not only is Kobe Bryant a chip of the block of Air, but he may be the last of a dying breed.

The video shows how similar the two are in the exact same scenario on the court. From the spot on the court to the kick out of the leg, Kobe wants to be like Mike. Now all he has to get that 6th ring.

What Do You Think About The Barclays Center Rust Look???

Is this rust look on the Brooklyn Nets new home Fresh??? The Barclays Center cost 1 billion to make and instead of brand new it looks old and used. The steel used for the rust look is called Cor-Ten — and over time it develops a fine layer of rust, which serves as a  protective coating against moisture, slowing its own corrosion process almost to a stop.

Not sure how this will turn out.
