Good Times Movie On The Way???

Written by on April 30, 2015

One thing I love in life is a classic episode of Good Times. Gooooood Tiiiiiiiiiimes!

You know the show with JJ, Michael, James, Florida, and Thelma….. Lord have mercy Thelma! Well the cat who struck gold with Black-Ish Kenya Barris is working on bringing the classic 70s sitcom to the big screen.

Black-Ish creator Kenya Barris is riding high on his freshman sitcom about an upscale African-American family. Now, he has been set by Sony to write Good Times, the feature adaptation of the groundbreaking sitcom about an African-American family on the other side of the spectrum, struggling in the Chicago projects in the turbulent ’60s. Scott Rudin and Eli Bush are producing.

We can dig it. The only thing I am a little concerned about is the fact that they are basing this in the 60’s, which could be high-blowing. I really don’t want to see Thelma…. lord have mercy Thelma…. in some flower power hippy outfit. I need bell bottoms, funk, pimps, and blue light parties.

Hopefully this flick gets the green light and we see it materialize into something nice.
