Paul McCartney Is Pushing The Album Format
Written by Danny P Ocean on July 16, 2014
Paul McCartney is once again trying to revolutionize the music industry. The former Beatle is looking to the app format to re-release 5 of his classic albums.
Five of McCartney’s classic albums (Band on the Run, McCartney, McCartney II, RAM and Wings over America) are now available as iPad apps, complete with bonus material. On top of the extra videos, photos, interviews and remastered tracks, the standalone downloads are priced at $7.99 — $5 less than the regular deluxe versions.
Hopefully this is a nod to the future as opposed to a flash in the pan type of hype. More artist need to think outside of the box in order to revitalize the album concept in a market catered to singles.
