The Military’s New Weapon…Life Imitates Art???

Back in 1997 Bruce Willis did battle against the forces of Zorg in the movie The 5th Element. Zorg was your standard “rule the universe” type cat who was thwarted by the prophetic musings of a scantily clad Mila Jovovich. In addition to being a galactic bad guy, Zorg was an arms dealer. At the time, his newest creation was the ZF-1:
The great thing about the ZF-1 was that it provided the benefit of smart bullet technology. If you fired a shot, you could direct all subsequent shots to the same spot…regardless of where you pointed the weapon. Seemed like science fiction at the time, but today the U.S. announced that it would be adopting wide scale use of the new XM25 Smart Rifle. The weapon has the ability to find the range, check the air pressure, temperature, ballistics, and evaluate obstacles. It then sends the information to a microchip embedded in the head of the round and enables the bullet to strike the enemy…even if he is behind walls or other cover!! The weapon has been in use over a week and has been called a “game changer” in counterinsurgency.
They even look a little alike don’t they???
