Industry Rule #4080….

Looks like Nelly is upset about how his new album performed in the soundscans last week. The angry rapper tweeted….

“A record deal is a 50/50 partnership! As a artist its your job to provide the record company with music that they can sell,Thing about the partnership is that n the public eye the responsibility is not 50/50!the artist is always the 1who catches 90% of the blame.”

If u only ship 200 thound [thousand] of an album how many are u f#cking tryen [sic] to sell?? the artist does control that nor does he or she control marketing.

So Moguls does Nelly have a point? The sales in music have been disappointing for the most part the last few years. Some may say since the 90′s. Should a label ship out a million copies of a new record? The odds are that more units will be left on shelves than not. I have been saying this for a minute now, you rappers better stop signing those contracts! If you can’t do Em, Drake, Jay, Kanye numbers, you are better off doing it yourself. Trust me, it will be more in your pocket!
