Have A Blu Friday!!!!!

I will be the first to say that I am stubborn when it comes to new artist. With so much wackness dripping from the speakers, it is hard to sift through the sewage. But every once in a while I take someone up on they word and I check an artist out. And I must say I love it when fresh music comes my way! I am not going to lie, I was a little late to hop on the Blu bandwagon, but I am glad it had room enough for the Ocean. I heard different people big up Blu before, but it took a rainy day at the computer and a few searches on Google to find out what the hype was about. The first jewel I racked up was (the out of print already)  “Below The Heavens”, by Blu & Exile, and I will say that it the album made to my best albums of the decade list!

I will say that I am hip hopper that loves lyrics first and formost, beats come second. However, this musical plate provided the perfect marriage of prose and sonic. These days it is hard for a solo artist to hold down a whole album, but Blu did it with ease over the tracks that Exile painted. Below The Heavens touched on parenting, life, love, and simply being the MC to touch a mic!
